DURHAM — Established and aspiring authors and poets will enjoy a day of writing and networking on the shores of Falls Lake during a retreat hosted by the Franklin County Writers’ Guild.

The retreat will take place May 4 at the Falls Lake State Recreation Area. The deadline to register is April 25.

Attendees will have the opportunity to read their work to other attendees at the end of the day for feedback and critique.

The Franklin County Writers’ Guild is part of the Franklin County Arts Council.

A “six-pack” of FCAC Writers Guild’s authors — Donna Campbell Smith, Jackie Dove-Miller, Kim Beall, Kathy Bundy, Kay Whatley and Micheal Nelson — will be available during a lunchtime panel to address questions about writing and the business of publishing.

Registration is $30 for Franklin County Arts Council members and $40 for non-members. There is a $7 fee per car to enter the park. Beverages will be provided; attendees need to bring a bag lunch.

The May 4 retreat will be from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at 4201 Baptist Road, Durham.
