KNIGHTDALE — A man led deputies on a “brief chase” Tuesday afternoon that ended when he crashed into another vehicle, the Wake County Sheriff’s Office said.
According to a press release, deputies tried to pull over a vehicle on U.S. Highway 264 at Wendell Falls Parkway just before 3 p.m.
The driver, Austin Christopher Williams, 20, sped away from the scene, authorities said. Deputies followed and the chase continued to Interstate 540 and exited to Knightdale Boulevard in Knightdale.
There, Williams’ car crashed into another car. A woman and child in that car were later transported to a hospital with minor injuries.
Williams fled on foot and was arrested without incident shortly after, deputies said.
Records show Williams, of Grifton, was charged with felony flee to elude arrest with a motor vehicle, possession of marijuana paraphernalia, possession of less than 0.5 ounces of marijuana, reckless driving to endanger, speeding, failure to yield, driving while license was revoked and fictitious title or tag.
