15 charged in 'Operation Impact' Franklinton drug probe

LOUISBURG — The Franklin County Sheriff's Office said this week it had arrested 15 people in connection with the sale of drugs around Franklinton.

The arrests are part of a coordinated effort officials referred to as Operation Impact, a press release said. The sheriff's office said deputies identified suspects through citizen complaints and other intelligence.

"Operation Impact is an effort to identify and arrest anyone who chooses to sell illegal drugs in our communities," Sheriff Kent Winstead said in a statement Thursday. "Our strategy and our emphasis will continue to be making our communities safer. These arrests will help achieve that goal."

All suspects are said to have sold illegal drugs in neighborhoods around Franklinton, the release said.

The sheriff's office said arrests this week were the first phase of the on-going investigation and that more arrests are expected.

The Drug Enforcement Administration, the N.C. Alcohol Law Enforcement and the Franklinton Police Department assisted.

The suspects are:

  • Stephon Lavare Perry, 31, of Ballard Pruitt Road, Franklinton: possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, selling marijuana and maintaining a vehicle or dwelling place for a controlled substance; $15,000 bond.
  • Aaron Lloyd, 23, of Mary Day Drive, Louisburg: maintaining a vehicle or dwelling place for a controlled substance and two counts each possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver cocaine and selling cocaine; $75,000 bond.
  • Brendan Jerel Cannady, 32, of Savage Street, Franklinton: maintaining a vehicle or dwelling place for a controlled substance and two counts each possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver cocaine and selling cocaine; $100,000 bond.
  • Diquaz Javon Kearney-Crudup, 23, of Hicks Road, Youngsville: possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, selling marijuana, possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school, possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver MDA or MDMA and two counts maintaining a vehicle or dwelling place for a controlled substance; $50,000 bond.
  • Jeffrey Thomas Rinker, 37, of Poplar Creek Drive, Franklinton: conspiracy to sell heroin; $10,000 bond.
  • Jami Lynn Massengill, 36, of Eagleroost Court, Wake Forest: conspiracy to sell heroin and possession of heroin; $20,000 bond.
  • William Daniel McGhee, 37, of U.S. Highway 1, Franklinton: conspiracy to sell heroin; $30,000 bond.
  • Dwight Leon Garrett, 66, of Gordon Moore Road, Franklinton: possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver a Schedule II controlled substance, selling a Schedule II controlled substance and maintaining a vehicle or dwelling place for a controlled substance; $50,000 bond.
  • Willie Burt Sneed, 60, of Mitchell Avenue, Franklinton: four counts each possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine, selling cocaine and maintaining a vehicle or dwelling place for a controlled substance; $150,000 bond.
  • Deshaun Lamont Williams, 46, of Mark Street, Franklinton: habitual felon, trafficking in cocaine and three counts each selling cocaine, possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver a Schedule II controlled substance and maintaining a vehicle or dwelling place for a controlled substanc; $500,000 bond.
  • Bennie Lee Crudup, 43, of West Green Street, Franklinton: four counts possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school, three counts maintaining a vehicle or dwelling place for a controlled substance and five counts each selling cocaine and possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver cocaine; $250,000.
  • Michael Sills, 51, of South Cheatham Street, Franklinton: conspiracy to sell cocaine, habitual felon and two counts each possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine, selling cocaine, maintaining a vehicle or dwelling place for a controlled substance and possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school; $500,000 bond.
  • Robert Dubois, 29, of Old John Mitchell Road, Youngsville: delivering cocaine and possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine; $2,000 bond.
  • Renee Morgan, 29, of Cambridge Drive, Franklinton: possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine, selling cocaine and maintaining a vehicle or dwelling place for a controlled substance; $60,000 bond.
  • Terrance Vines, 39, of Cambridge Drive, Franklinton: two counts each possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, selling cocaine and maintaining a vehicle or dwelling place for a controlled substance; $100,000 bond.
