Many years ago, I started writing an annual Christmas poem for my family and I would like to share this year’s poem with you:

Clocks don’t tick anymore

but time passes

quick and still quicker

as cherished days flash by.

These Christmas joys

repeated year by year

seem more fleeting

more bittersweet

as I remember the past

look to the future

and hold the present fast —

a fresh fir tree with multicolored lights

and icicles that shimmer in the moving air

frosted silver goblets and silly paper hats

with familiar faces around our table

and a shared sadness for those not here.

Making more memories together

to hold tight and store.

I hope your Christmas is merry and you are making many happy memories of your own.
