WAKE FOREST — Rosalee Wells hadn’t seen her family since before the state’s stay-at-home order went into effect.

Wells is a resident at Cadence Assisted Living of Wake Forest. She turned 93 this month, and her family’s celebration overlapped with another celebration — Mother’s Day.

Cadence held a Mother’s Day parade for its residents on May 10. The event had special significance for Wells, who got to see her family parade past the assisted living home.

The parade was led by the Wake Forest fire and police departments and included families of many of its residents.

Residents, wearing masks,  watched from lawn chairs placed outside.

Wells’ son, Phil, said her birthday was celebrated “this year unlike any in her 93 years!”
