WAKE FOREST — Wake Forest’s Tate Bacon finished second in the men’s 100-yard freestyle and third in the 50-yard freestyle in the 4A swimming state championship at Cardinal Gibbons High School on Friday, Feb. 7.
The sophomore clocked in at 46.19 seconds in the 100-yard freestyle behind Green Hope’s John Satterfield’s 45.23 seconds.
In the 50-yard freestyle, Bacon finished with a time of 21.18 seconds behind Satterfield’s 20.86 seconds.
Bacon earned a total of 33 points for the Cougars in scoring at the state title meet. Wake Forest finished 15th overall with 47 points behind Providence, which scored 64 points.
