ZEBULON — A Zebulon woman struck a pedestrian who was pushing a child in a grocery cart, causing the 3-year-old to spill onto the road in a Walmart parking lot, authorities say.
According to a press release, officers around 3:50 p.m. Friday found that a vehicle driven by Renee Parry, of Zebulon, hit the pedestrian as she was pushing the cart in the crosswalk near the front of the Walmart on East Gannon Avenue.
Authorities say the cart was knocked over and the child fell onto the street, receiving scrapes and "what appeared to be minor injuries."
Officials say the child was transported by EMS for further evaluation at a local hospital.
Zebulon police did not provide an update on the pedestrian.
Parry, 57, was charged with failure to yield to pedestrians.
