WAKE FOREST — Carol Diane Johnson, 63, of Wake Forest, died peacefully, surrounded by her family on July 7, 2020.
Carol was born in Detroit, Michigan to the late George and Virginia Roehling. She grew up in Royal Oak, Michigan, eventually graduating from Western Michigan University, where she met the love of her life, Mike Johnson. They were married for 40 years and together brought two beautiful children into the world, Lindsay and Samuel Johnson. Carol’s life was centered on her family, of which she was fiercely proud. She had a beautiful soul, was always happy and cheerful, accepted people for what they were, put others before herself, and brought joy to every event. Carol was genuine and had an open heart which made it easy for her to connect with people.
She worked at both Wake Forest and Jones Dairy Elementary Schools for many years which brought lasting friendships. Carol loved children and they were drawn to her. She had a gift of patience and the ability to always bring a little humor to most situations. Carol had a special bond with both her daughter Lindsay and granddaughter Lilly. Time with them brought arts and crafts, baking and celebrating every birthday and holiday on the calendar. Carol also enjoyed gardening with her husband and together they created beautiful flower gardens at their home over the years.
Carol’s passing leaves a huge hole in our hearts, but there is comfort knowing that she was greeted at the gates of heaven by her son “Sammy,” who passed before her and that she is now resting peacefully in the arms of Jesus Christ our savior.
Carol is survived by her husband, Mike; daughter, Lindsay (Alan), and their daughter, Lilly, all of Wake Forest. She also leaves a very large group of extended family and friends in Michigan which includes brothers, Carl (Barb), John (Libby) and Mark (Pat); sister, Kathy (Gary); Mike’s parents, Robert and Sally Johnson; along with many in-laws and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be planned for a later date.
Carol loved her school family so please consider a donation in her memory to the Jones Dairy Elementary PTA, 1100 Jones Dairy Road, Wake Forest, NC 27587.
