WAKE FOREST — The Wake Forest Endoscopy Center, located at 10540 Ligon Mill Road, will host Charity Day 2019 on Saturday.

March is National Colon Cancer Awareness Month and the physicians and staff at the Wake Endoscopy Center are asking physician practices to refer patients who either do not have insurance or cannot afford a screening examination.

Colon cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer deaths in the U.S. as more than 50,000 people per year die from it.

According to Wake Forest Endoscopy, 60 percent of patients eligible for a screening colonoscopy conduct one.

All ancillary staff at the facility will volunteer their time for Charity Day, and local church groups will help drive patients who do not have a ride.
