Discovery Point Heritage Toys for Tots

Discovery Point Heritage in Wake Forest is hosting its fourth annual Toys for Tots drive. Anybody interested in donating can bring new toys to the child development center, located at 1212 Heritage Links Drive, Wake Forest, Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. until Friday, Dec. 13. Lighting of Wake Forest

Wake Forest officially welcomes the holiday season with the Lighting of Wake Forest tonight from 6-8:30 p.m. at Centennial Plaza in Wake Forest Town Hall, 301 S. Brooks St. Sponsored by Traditions at Wake Forest and presented by Wake Forest Downtown Inc., this annual event features the lighting of the town’s 30-foot Christmas tree by Mayor Vivian Jones, followed by the eagerly anticipated arrival of Jolly Old St. Nick. The Lighting of Wake Forest will feature musical performances by local groups and complimentary hot chocolate, cookies, and glow necklaces, while supplies last.

Letters To Santa

Drop off letters in the special mailbox at the Zebulon Community Center until Friday, Dec. 13. Drop-off times are Monday through Thursday from 6 a.m.-9 p.m. and Friday from 6 a.m.-4 p.m.

‘Snowball Dance’ for youth and adults with disabilities

The Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department will host a “Snowball Dance” for youth and adults with disabilities Saturday from 6-8 p.m. at the Wake Forest Community House, 133 W. Owen Ave. Area residents ages 10 and older are invited to an evening in “Winter Wonderland” featuring a DJ, dancing, refreshments and lots of fun. Chaperones will be made available for supervision, but participants are welcome to bring additional support if necessary. The cost is $25 per person, and pre-registration is required at https://wakeforestnc.recdesk.com. The deadline to pre-register is today at noon. Walk-ins will not be accepted. In addition, the PRCR Department is seeking peer-aged volunteers ages 12 and older to attend the dance and provide support by dancing, eating and socializing with the attendees. Youngsville Old-Fashioned Christmas

Youngsville’s Old-Fashioned Christmas all day event will be held Saturday. The Youngsville Rescue Auxiliary Breakfast will be held from 7-9:30 a.m. Youngsville Christmas Parade will start at 10 a.m. The Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony will be at the Youngsville Animal Hospital, 141 E Main St., from 5-6 p.m. There will be caroling and the presentation of awards for the Seventh Annual Decorating Contest. Knightdale Christmas Parade

The Knightdale Christmas Parade will be held Saturday at 6:30 p.m. The parade begins at Knightdale Station Run and will continue down First Avenue to Fayetteville Street.

Rolesville Christmas Parade

The Rolesville Christmas Parade will be held Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. The parade will start at Thales Academy, will move up Storage Drive to Main Street, turn left onto Main Street then right onto East Young Street and ending at Rolesville Baptist Church.

Louisburg Christmas Parade

The Louisburg Christmas Parade is set to take place Sunday from 3-5 p.m. It will start in downtown Louisburg beginning on West Nash Street.

Zebulon Christmas Breakfast

Celebrate the Christmas holiday with music and breakfast at the Deck The Halls: Christmas Breakfast to be held Friday, Dec. 13 from 9:30-11 a.m. at the Zebulon Community Center. Be served and enjoy some traditional sounds of the season. Sign up at the center by Friday, Dec. 6. The cost is $3 per person.

Tickets on sale for Renaissance Centre’s ‘Merry Country Christmas’

The Wake Forest Renaissance Centre for the Arts will host three performances of “Live from Nashville — Merry Country Christmas” on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 14-15. Saturday’s showtime is 7 p.m., while Sunday showtimes are 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets are $25 each plus tax and can be purchased online at www.wakeforestrencen.org/tickets-events. Advance tickets may also be purchased with cash, check or credit card at the Renaissance Centre Box Office, 405 S. Brooks St. All three performances are expected to sell out, so anyone interested in attending is encouraged to purchase their tickets now. A variety of concessions, including beer and wine, will be available for purchase during each performance. Wake Forest Letters for Santa mailbox now available

The town of Wake Forest has installed a “Letters for Santa” mailbox in Jones Plaza at the intersection of South White Street and East Jones Avenue. Children of all ages are invited to bring their letters to Santa’s Mailbox anytime between now and Tuesday, Dec. 24, for immediate delivery to the North Pole. Letters received by Sunday, Dec. 15, will receive a personal response from Santa Claus himself. No postage is required, but all letters should include a return address. Volunteers needed for tax assistance program

The Zebulon AARP Tax Assistance Program located at the Eastern Regional Center, 1002 Dogwood St., Zebulon is seeking volunteers to provide tax assistance in the nearby communities. The AARP program is a free tax assistance program for anyone, needing assistance with tax preparation. Training will start soon.
