WAKE FOREST — Emergency personnel are on the scene of a ruptured gas line Monday evening along the 2600 block of Burlington Mills Road.

Traffic is blocked along both directions of Burlington Mills. Motorists are not being permitted to turn from Capital Boulevard/U.S. 1 onto Burlington Mills. In addition, motorists traveling west along Burlington Mills must turn around at One World Way. Finally, residents in the Shearon Farms neighborhood are not allowed to exit the neighborhood via Urial Drive.

Motorists are urged to avoid the area and choose an alternate route.

PSNC crews are on the scene working to seal off the leak which was caused when a contractor struck the gas line during construction.

There is no timetable on when the road will reopen.

Officials are monitoring the affected area for safety considerations, but as of now there are no plans to evacuate residents who live in the area.

Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
