WAKE FOREST — The Assumption College Department of Athletics from Worcester, Massachusetts has announced that Carly Romano, of Wake Forest, has earned a spot on the 2019-20 women’s golf team.

Romano, class of 2022, is competing during the Greyhounds’ fall season. Romano used to play for Heritage High School’s girls golf team.

The Hounds had a successful 2018-19 campaign, capping the season off with a victory at the NEIGA Championship on Cape Cod. Catherine French won medalist honors on a playoff hole to lead the team, while Christine Cutting took fifth. French also finished fourth in the Northeast-10 Championship, while the team placed sixth overall.

French is serving as team captain this season while Cutting and Mia Rapoza are serving as associate captains.

“After a competitive 2018 showing, we continue to make progress this season,” said Matt Stephens, women’s golf coach. “We have a strong core of talented student-athletes that gives our team great depth. While we continue to build the program, we anticipate our returning seniors to provide leadership and we will look to them to help us achieve our goals both on the golf course and in the classroom.”
