FRANKLINTON — Franklinton High School announced that students will be dismissed around noon today while authorities investigate a bomb threat on campus.
Principal Russell Holloman issued the following statement at 11:40 today:
"At approximately 10:50 AM this morning the Franklin County Sheriff's Department received a bomb threat against Franklinton High School. We immediately evacuated the building and have ensured that all students are safe while we wait for the Sheriff's Department to investigate the threat.
"At their recommendation, and in an abundance of caution, the decision has been made to dismiss school for the day. Students will be transported by bus home as soon as buses are on campus.
"Again, we will begin dismissing school at approximately 12:00 noon. All buses will be transporting students home and parents can come to the rear of the campus to pick up students with proper identification.
"We appreciate your cooperation as we work to ensure the safety of the students on our campus."
