Heritage defense smothers Corinth Holders

WENDELL — Heritage’s football team scooped up six fumbles and recorded seven sacks on their way to a 48-14 beatdown at Corinth Holders last Friday.

The Huskies suffocated the Pirates on defense with six fumble recoveries by six different players and seven sacks by seven different players. Heritage also had a blocked punt in the win. Savionne Rogers scored on a fumble recovery for his Huskies.

Offensively, Heritage quarterback Walker Harris had his way with the Corinth Holders secondary. The senior torched the Pirates with 237 passing yards and four touchdown passes.

Brodrick Gooch caught two of those touchdowns and contributed with 26 yards. Whit Kane led the Huskies with five receptions for 98 yards and a touchdown. Elijah Odessy had one catch for a 9-yard touchdown.

With the win, Heritage opened NAC 6 conference play 1-0 to improve to 4-3 overall. The Huskies have won three out of their last four away games.

Heritage will play conference rival Wakefield at home tonight at 7 p.m.
