Heritage volleyball crowned conference tournament champs

WAKE FOREST — Heritage’s volleyball team defeated Wake Forest 3-1 at home in the first round of the NAC 6 conference tournament Monday and then beat Corinth Holders 3-2 on the road in the tournament championship match Tuesday. The Huskies won the first two sets by scores of 25-21 and 25-23. Corinth Holders forced a game five with back-to-back wins in the third and fourth sets at 27-25 and 25-22. The fifth set was a tight one that had to be decided by two points, but Heritage emerged victorious 17-15 to win the NAC 6 conference tournament for the second year in a row.

Heritage finished the regular season 17-6 overall and 9-1 in NAC 6 conference play. Their only conference loss was to Corinth Holders. The Huskies and Pirates shared the regular season conference title. Heritage went 9-1 at home and won 55 total sets over the course of the year. The Huskies head into the 4A state playoffs with a four-game win streak. Heritage will play the first round of the state tournament Saturday. The Huskies have the No. 6 seed in the 4A state playoffs, which is their highest in school history.
