Huskies send 15 athletes to play collegiate sports

WAKE FOREST - Heritage High School had 15 student athletes from seven different sports sign with their respecitve universities Wednesday morning.

Starting with football, Whit Kane signed with UNC-Charlotte. The wide receiver totaled 3,764 all-purpose yards in his high school career, which is a Heritage school record. He also scored 23 total touchdowns in three seasons on varsity.

Ben Steele signed to play football at The Citadel Military College of South Carolina. The kicker has made 116 extra points and eight field goals in his career. He also averaged 37.3 yards per punt, including a 64-yarder, plus 29 touchbacks on kickoffs.

For girls basketball, Malia Poirrier signed with UNC-Pembroke. The forward has averaged 3.6 points and 2.1 rebounds per game in her varsity career. 

In baseball, Carson Hinnant signed to play for Mount Olive University. The pitcher won two games as a starter in his junior year with an ERA of 1.71.

Tristan Cockman signed to play baseball at Wake Tech Community College. The 6-foot-7 pitcher tossed three strikeouts in only four innings played as a junior.

For softball, Kennedy Priest signed to play for the University of Maine. The catcher has a career batting average of .384 with 73 hits, 56 runs, 52 RBIs and two home runs.

McKenna Glascock signed to play softball at Louisburg College. The first baseman has a career batting average of .282 with 22 hits, 21 runs and 11 RBIs.

Raygan Rensing signed to play softball at Lees-McRae College. The pitcher has a career batting average of .343 with 70 hits, 58 RBIs and 47 runs, along with one home run. As a pitcher, she has an overall record of 36-2 with 256 striekouts and an ERA of 1.41.

In boys soccer, Landon Sloan signed with Creighton University. The midfielder scored 11 goals and dished out 12 assists in his senior season.

Joshua Bratager signed with Messiah College in Mechanicsburg, Penn. The forward scored 23 goals and recorded 11 assists in his senior year.

For girls soccer, Riley Quinlan signed with UNC-Chapel Hill. In her first two years on varsity for Heritage, she scored 14 goals and dished out six assists.

Raegan Meyer signed to play soccer at University of South Carolina Upstate. The midfielder has accumulated 11 goals and 18 assists in her three seasons on varsity.

Adison May signed to play soccer at East Carolina University. She has played club soccer for the NC Courage.

Olivia Neal signed to play soccer at Campbell University. The midfielder has recorded three goals and eight assist in two seasons on varsity.

Aynslee Grasso signed to swim for Campbell University. She was a finalist for Heritage in the 4A eastern regional championship and placed sixth in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 59.06 seconds. Her career-best is 57.74 seconds.
