RALEIGH — James Louis Freeman Sr., 86, passed away Friday, Sept. 4, 2020. A graveside service was held 4 p.m. Sunday in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens in Wake Forest. The family received friends from 2-3:30 p.m. Sunday at Bright Funeral Home.
He was born Oct. 17, 1933, in Crawford, Georgia, son of the late Claude and Josephine Freeman. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Jean Daniels Freeman.
Mr. Freeman was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of Wake Forest United Methodist Church. He was also an avid golfer.
He is survived by two sons, Louis Freeman and wife, Joan, of Wake Forest, and Scott Freeman and wife, Kathy, of Raleigh; grandchildren, Jake Freeman of Louisville, Kentucky, Amanda Johnson and husband, Ryan, of Clayton, Zach Freeman and wife, Lauren, of Houston, Texas, Abbey Freeman of Raleigh and Corey Freeman of Washington, D.C.; and great-grandchildren, Marshall Johnson, Hannah Johnson, William Freeman and Juliana Freeman.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Meals on Wheels of Wake County, 1001 Blair Drive, Suite 100, Raleigh, NC 27603-2030.
