WAKE FOREST — Wake Forest’s two club hockey teams of the U.S. Premier Hockey League will start their season this Saturday at 6 p.m. at The Factory.

This past season, The Factory partnered with the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League and were announced as the USPHL Junior Hurricanes. The two teams are split into the Elite team (ages 17-18), coached by Brad Gaylord, and the Premier team (ages 19-20), which is coached by Kevin St. Jacques.

Both teams feature 25 local players from Wake Forest and Raleigh, plus 25 other players from around the world who look to play professional hockey at the next level.

The Junior Hurricanes will take on the Charleston Colonials this Saturday at the Polar Ice House inside The Factory. The Elite team will play first at 6 p.m. and the Premier team will follow afterward. Mayor Vivian Jones will be attendance for the first puck drop of the 2019 season.

Students with I.D. can enter and watch both games for $5. All visitors under 12 are free, military and seniors are $5 and 13 and over are $10.
