KNIGHTDALE — Knightdale High supplied the roof over the heads, but East Wake helped lay the groundwork for the 2019 Jerry Daniels Wrestling Tournament.

Using shared Knight and Warrior mats, those grapplers posted the two top positions among an 11-team field. Knightdale’s Jimmy Mullen was named Most Outstanding Wrestler after sweeping three foes toward the 195-pound crown. He hoisted that title and a perfect 9-0 individual mark on the season.

East Wake’s Luke Kittrell conquered the 220-pound competition to complete the event 5-5 so far this winter.

Other hosts with top places were: Jayden Adams (third at 113); Michael Barris (fourth at 126); Darius Ferguson (third at 132); Jordan Winstead (third at 138); Nick Falank (fifth at 145); Brenna Cosper (third at 152); Jayshaun Franklin (third at 160); Jose Perez-Javier (third at 170); and Ivan Graves-Howard (second at 182).

Warrior success wranglers also included: Andrew Sarna (fourth at 145); Jason Delgado (fourth at 170); and Eric Rash (third at 182).
