Psalm 40:4 (ESV)

“Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust, and does not respect the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.”

We are very dependent people whether we realize it or not. We depend on food to nourish us. We depend on the money we receive from our job to provide for our needs. When we were young, we depended on our parents to raise us.

Over the years, we have put a lot of trust in so many things. How wonderful is it to put our trust in the Lord, who will never let us down?

God provides everything we need, plus more. The Bible says that we should test His goodness and see if He will overflow us with abundance in blessings. Even if those blessings are not what we expect. That makes it easier to trust in Him.

However, most people have difficulty trusting in things we can’t see. Some of us have friends we can depend on, because they are physically there to call upon when things go wrong. But what happens if the people we trust end up moving away or are busy with something else at the time?

This is where God comes in. He makes it easy to trust Him, because it’s in His nature to always love us and be there for us. God never goes away. He doesn’t move to another city. He doesn’t become too busy or occupied with something else.

Life doesn’t get in the way with God. No matter what happens, God will always be there from the beginning to the end.

We can’t allow ourselves to put too much trust in worldly, temporary things. We can’t respect the proud, because God will find a way to humble them anyway. It’s also hard to trust someone when they lie to you. God never lies. His holiness won’t allow Him to. That’s another reason to trust Him, because He won’t betray us.

God is unlike anything in the universe. His love is beyond comprehension. So let’s put our trust in the Lord. Because who else is better than Him?

This week, pray about how you can put your trust in God in ways you haven’t before. Open yourself up to Him and let Him bless you in ways you never thought possible.
