ZEBULON — Three pedestrians, including a 6-year-old girl, were injured Thursday morning by an SUV, police said.

The Zebulon Police Department said the SUV, going north on Zebulon Road, struck two adults walking south on the shoulder of the road just before 6 a.m. The girl escaped being hit but had minor scrapes.

The victims lived nearby. One victim, Joshua M. Stapleton, was wearing a working head light at the time of the crash, according to a press release.

Stapleton, 25, and a woman, Christy M. Morris, 27, were treated at WakeMed Hospital. Their injuries were not said to be life threatening.

The driver, Stacey A. Bryner, 29, of Brewer Court in Wilson, stayed on the scene and cooperated with police. She was cited with failure to maintain her lane and released.
