WAKE FOREST — Robert Wayne McDaniel, 96, of Wake Forest, passed away Friday, Sept. 6, at the Hillside Nursing facility.

He was born in Manton, Michigan to George and Mary McDaniel, and was the youngest of 12 children. He outlived all his siblings. In World War II he served in the Pacific theater as a welder repairing landing craft.

Following a 20-year Navy career, Bob clerked at a county road commission in northern Michigan, retiring in 1984. He moved to Wake Forest in 2016. Surviving is Milly, his wife of 73 years, Tanis (Glen) Huebner, Chip (Ruthie) McDaniel, Bonnie (Mark) Pinkerton, seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by a son, Cory, and a granddaughter Melinda. In every place Bob and Milly have lived, they sought out and joined a Bible-believing church. This decision has shaped the lives of four generations. Above all, a personal relationship with Jesus has motivated and guided their long and productive life.

A memorial service is planned for October in northern Michigan. The family requests that any memorials be directed to the Oak Grove Baptist Church of Wake Forest.
