Rolesville athletes shine at qualifier meet

ROLESVILLE — The Rolesville Lightning track and field club brought home six medals at the Amateur Athletic Union Region 25 qualifier at UNC-Charlotte on Sunday.

The top performer was Cody Singleton, who won first place in the boys high jump with a measurement of 4-feet-4.75 inches. He also placed second in the long jump with a distance of 14-feet-8.5 inches.

Isiah Jones finished third in three events in the 13-year-old boys division. He ran a time of 12.09 seconds in the 100-meter dash, 24.41 seconds in the 200-meter dash and 55.37 seconds in the 400-meter dash.

Joidon Boddie placed third in the girls triple jump with a distance of 38-feet-3-inches for the 17-18-year-old age group. She also finished sixth in the long jump with a distance of 16-feet-11-inches.

The Rolesville Lightning will compete in the USATF Region 3 regional meet at Prince George’s Sports Complex in Landover, Maryland this weekend. The team is also preparing for the AAU Junior Olympics at NC A&T University in Greensboro July 28-Aug. 3.
