Rolesville tennis aces Heritage on the road

WAKE FOREST — Rolesville’s girls tennis team keeps rolling along with another win after the Rams completely blanked Heritage 9-0 on the road Thursday Sept. 28. Not only did the Rams sweep the Huskies in the match, but also swept them for the season. Rolesville defeated Heritage 8-1 at home Sept. 10. The first two singles matches ended as sweeps also. Jade Houston shut down Chase Easterwood 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 1 match and Victoria Miles beat Skylar McDonald 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 2 match. In the No. 3 match, Rolesville freshman Sam Lopez defeated Heritage’s Sophia Klingensmith 6-0, 6-1. At the No. 4 match, Rolesville senior Camryn Straughn took down Heritage freshman Avery Manfreda 6-4, 6-1.

In the No. 5 match, Ashley Kelly defeated Lena Sadiq 6-0, 6-1. Finally at the No. 6 match, freshman Diane Jallo defeated senior Hana Smahi, 6-4, 6-1. Rolesville won all three doubles matches. In the first one, Lopez and Straughn beat Nicole Micchia and Manfreda 8-3. In the No. 2 match, Kelly and Malinda Bullock shut out Klingensmith and Megan Maher 8-0. At the No. 3 match, Isabel Santana and Jallo defeated Sadiq and Lily Scardina 8-4. With the loss, Heritage dropped to 3-8 overall and 3-5 in NAC 6 conference play. The Huskies have lost three out of their last four to miss out on a chance to compete for the NAC 6 conference title. With the win, Rolesville improved to 7-1 overall and in conference play. The Rams are one game behind Wakefield, who are 8-2 overall and undefeated in the NAC 6 at 8-0. Those two teams play each other Wednesday Oct. 2 to determine the NAC 6 conference champion.
