LOUISBURG — A traffic stop this week resulted in what deputies referred to as a scuffle and the arrest of a driver and passenger, according to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies pulled over a 2019 Ford Fusion on Moore’s Pond Road on Wednesday, a press release said. Inside were Victor Whitley, 29, and Michael Weidner, 27.
Deputies said they determined Weidner had a revoked driver’s license. According to the release, Whitley then ran from the car. That’s when the scuffle between Whitley and deputies happened.

Officers found Whitley was carrying a gun reported stolen from Garner.
Whitley, of Gideon Drive, Wake Forest, was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a stolen firearm, assault on a government official and resisting a public officer. He was placed in the Franklin County Detention Center under no bond.

Weidner, 27, of Haresnipe Court, Raleigh, was charged with possession of less than 0.5 ounces of marijuana and resisting a public officer. He was also served with warrants out of Wake County for two counts of driving while impaired, driving while license revoked, failure to wear a seat belt and no motor vehicle registration.

He was placed in the Franklin County Detention Center under an $11,000 secured bond.
