LOUISBURG — The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said last week that as part of its Operation Impact investigation, 19 more people have been arrested in connection with the sale of illegal drugs.

This is the third wave of arrests in the probe since September. As it had the two previous times, the sheriff’s office said Wednesday that more arrests are expected.

The latest phase of the investigation focused on drug sales around Bunn. The first two focused on Franklinton and Louisburg.

“Phase III of Operation Impact was a strategic initiative that focused on individuals selling drugs in our neighborhoods throughout the Bunn area,” Sheriff Kent Winstead said in a statement. “The plan to address drug activity in all our communities will continue.”

The sheriff’s office said deputies identified suspects through citizen complaints and other intelligence. The Drug Enforcement Administration, the N.C. Alcohol Law Enforcement and the Bunn Police Department assisted.
