UPDATE (Monday, Sept. 16):

The Wake County Sheriff's Office released the name of a man critically injured Saturday in a shooting near Rolesville.

Edward John Mattison III, 47, was taken to a hospital following the incident on Sunset Manor Drive. An update on his condition was not available.

A woman was killed in the shooting, which police desribed as a domestic incident. The sheriff's office said it will not release her name until a medical examiner finishes an investigation.

A neighbor called 911 to report hearing gunshots outside their home. The caller said they heard someone outside ask for help but the caller didn't investigate because they were afraid and had kids in the house.

"I hid in the house. I don't want to open the door," the caller said. The caller said 4-5 gunshots were heard.

The sheriff's office has not given a motive for the shooting. A spokesman said investigators are not looking for other suspects.
