APEX — Deputies accused a registered sex offender last week with attending a high school basketball game.

Stephen Barnabas Holland, 36, of Zebulon, is facing charges of parole violation and being a sex offender on school grounds.

Holland's probation officer discovered pictures on Holland's phone depicting Holland in the Middle Creek High School gym Dec. 13, the same day the school was hosting games on campus, according to a press release.

The Wake County Sheriff's Office arrested Holland Jan. 17. He was held without bond.

Holland was convicted in 2008 of taking indecent liberties with and statutory rape of a 15-year-old, according to records.
