South Granville shut out by Knightdale in opener

KNIGHTDALE The Knightdale Knights cruised past the South Granville Vikings 33-0 in the opener for both teams Monday night.

The Vikings rushed for 198 yards, but did not complete a pass in the game.

Knightdale took a 13-0 lead into the second quarter and tacked on another seven points before halftime. The Knights put 13 more points on the board in the second half and eased to the 33-0 win.

South Granville’s Micah Wilkerson led the offense with 67 yards on six carries and Ethen Josseline finished with 13 tackles on defense. Henry Daniel also blocked a field goal attempt in the contest.

South Granville Statistics: Rushing — Khawan Bobbitt (17 carries, 39 yards), Nick White (three carries, 34 yards), Malichi Flowers ( eight carries, 29 yards), Jaydon Crabtree (five carries, 17 yards), Bryson McCall (two carries, 11 yards), and Benjamin Hunt (one carry, one yard). Tackles — Malichi Flowers (11, two tackles for loss), Jimmy Hanson (13, one TFL), Benjamin Hunt (four), Jarrett Black (one), Dominic Deloatche (one), Rashad Daniel (three), Bryson McCall (one), Chris Garrett (six, 1/2 TFL), Henry Daniel (seven, 3 1/2 TFL), Jaydon Crabtree (two), Nehemiah Hunter (one), Drew Daniel (one), Ian Lipsey (seven), Billy Salmons (one) and Cameron Latta (two).

South Granville will travel to Sanderson tonight to take on the 0-1 Spartans. Sanderson lost to Garner Magnet in their season opener 28-17. Knightdale will battle East Wake tonight. East Wake was defeated 39-12 in their first game against Northern Nash.
