WAKE FOREST — The town of Wake Forest is offering residents the opportunity to request and receive a free rollout yard waste cart – while they last.
The town has a surplus of around 100 48-gallon rollout carts formerly used for recycling. Now that all single-family households receive a complimentary 96-gallon rollout recycling cart, the town is making a limited number of 48-gallon carts available to residents upon request.
Anyone wishing to secure one of these surplus carts marked with “yard waste” on the side must complete and submit the online request form available on the town’s website at wakeforestnc.gov/public-works. There is a limit of one cart per household.
Area residents without internet access may request a yard waste cart by calling 919-435-9570. Anyone who calls after hours may leave a voicemail message. Voicemail requests must include the resident’s name, physical address and telephone number.
The Wake Forest Public Works Department will attempt to deliver at least 10 requested carts per day, Monday-Friday, until all have been distributed.
After receiving a cart, residents can place brush, leaves, limbs, mulch, flower trimmings and grass inside the receptacle and place it behind the curb on their normal yard waste collection date. Dirt, plastic or trash are not to be placed inside the cart.
