WAKE FOREST — The Wake Forest Town Hall and other administrative offices will be closed Tuesday through Thursday for the Christmas holiday. Police service will not be interrupted, but town bus service and sanitation schedules will be affected.
The collection of garbage and recycling for the week of Monday will change as follows: Wednesday’s route will be collected Thursday, Dec. 26; Thursday’s route will be collected Friday, Dec. 27; and Friday’s route will be collected Saturday, Dec. 28.
The town of Wake Forest will suspend yard waste and loose-leaf collection during the week of Dec. 23. The break will allow crews to focus their efforts on collecting Christmas trees and provide the Fleet Services Division an opportunity to make much-needed repairs to the town’s leaf collection equipment.
Yard waste and loose-leaf collection will resume Monday, Dec. 30. To view a map of the weekly yard waste collection schedule, visit http://bit.ly/WFYardWaste. Wake Forest residents can track the progress of leaf collection crews by calling the Leaf Collection Hotline at 919-435-9582. The hotline is updated each weekday morning by 8 a.m. with information identifying areas where crews will be working that day.
Residents are also reminded that bulk waste pick-ups will be suspended during the week of Dec. 23 and will resume the week of Dec. 30. To schedule a bulk pick-up, complete the online bulk waste pick-up request form at http://bit.ly/WFBulkPickupForm by 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30.
Residents without internet service can schedule their pick-up by calling 919-435-9570. Residents who call after hours may leave a voicemail message. All voicemail requests for bulk pick-up service must include the resident’s name, physical address, and telephone number, along with a description of the bulk waste items to be collected. Any service request that does not include the required information will not be processed.
Area residents who wish to dispose of items that do not qualify for bulk waste pickup are urged to consider utilizing one of Wake County’s 11 convenience centers. Open daily from 7 a.m.-7 p.m., each convenience center will close at noon on Christmas Eve and be closed all day on Christmas Day. For more information, including a list of locations, as well as acceptable and unacceptable items, visit www.wakegov.com/recycling/division/facilities/pages/cc.aspx.
Beginning Monday, Dec. 30, Wake Forest will collect and recycle Christmas trees from all Wake Forest sanitation customers. All Wake Forest residents whose trash and recycling is collected by the town may participate in the “Treecycling” program. To recycle your Christmas tree, remove all decorations, tinsel, nails, stands and bags from the tree and set it behind the curb for collection. Artificial trees cannot be recycled.
The Wake Forest Loop will operate on Tuesday but the Wake Forest-Raleigh express will not. Neither bus service will operate on Wednesday but both will resume their normal schedules Thursday.
Town offices will re-open next Friday at 8 a.m.
