Wake Forest police make arrest in decade-old stabbing case

WAKE FOREST — Authorities said they charged a suspect last week in a 10-year-old assault case.

Robert James Jeffreys, 52, of Privette Road, Wendell, was charged April 18 with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

The charges stem from an Oct. 29, 2010, incident, according to the Wake Forest Police Department.

During a fight, a woman was stabbed and a male was cut. The attacks happened at 10:33 p.m. at 630 E. Nelson Ave., according to town officials.

Police took out warrants to arrest Jeffreys then, but Jeffreys wasn’t found until last week, the department said. Police found Jeffreys just before midnight April 18 in the 300 block of North Taylor Street.

effreys was held under a $400,000 secured bond at the Wake County Detention Center.

Police declined to release more details.
