The Wake Forest Optimist Club has recognized Donna Jamieson as Optimist of the Year for all her tireless volunteering and bringing the local club food insecurity programs to help more children in Wake Forest.

Jamieson has coordinated with the Boys and Girls Club of Wake Forest, Wake Forest Elementary School, Wake Forest Middle School and Wake Forest High School to provide snacks, quick meals, hygiene products, and clothing for their food/snack closets. She shops, emails, delivers and stays on top of each closet to make sure that no child is hungry.

Jamieson also coordinated with Wake Forest Elementary and provided 10 complete Thanksgiving meals (with the addition of a turkey provided by the Wake Forest Police Department). Jamieson also coordinates with the local BackPack Buddies program in Rolesville, providing donated food and dates that the Wake Forest Optimists can pack the approximate 150 bags needed each week.

Jamieson is a cornerstone in the Wake Forest Optimist organization and volunteers with joy. She finds a need and provides a solution.

The Wake Forest Optimist Club recognizes Jamieson on the work she does each day to make the future brighter by “bringing out the best in children” in her Wake Forest community and in herself.
