Costumed kids and adults can look forward to the last few weeks of October.

Contests, games and trick-or-treating events are taking place in the lead-up to Halloween.

Here is a roundup of local events to mark on your calendars:

Creepy Crabtree

Wake County Parks and Recreation will host exhibits, crafts, games and prizes at Lake Crabtree County Park. The park’s shelters will be decorated with different themes and families can come to learn about native wildlife.

PW Pumpkin Pie Eating Contest

PW Clubhouse will hold its first pumpkin pie eating contest during its Planters Walk Fall Festival. All ages can compete in the contest. Children 12 or younger will have five minutes to compete, and competitors 13 or older will be judged on the time it takes to eat the entire pie.

Details: Saturday, Oct. 19 from 5-6 p.m. at PW Clubhouse, 901 Lynnwood Road, Knightdale. Cost is $5 per person.

Halloween at Holly Point

Falls Lake park rangers are inviting families to the Holly Point Amphitheater for games, crafts, refreshments, campfire stories and a night hike. Costume contest for kids 12 and under begins at 6:30 p.m. Hikers should bring flashlights.

Details: Saturday, Oct. 19 from 6-9 p.m. at Holly Point, 14500 New Light Road, Wake Forest.

Halloween Spooktacular

The Spooktacular is a free, family-oriented annual event sponsored by the town of Wake Forest aimed at kids 12 and under. Events include face painting, a cupcake walk, a photo booth, games and a pumpkin giveaway. Best costumes may appear on the town’s website.

Details: Thursday, Oct. 24 from 4:30-8 p.m. at the Joyner Park Community Center, 701 Harris Road, Wake Forest. For more information, call 919-435-9560.

Zebulon Trunk or Treat

Costumed kids from Knightdale, Zebulon and Wendell can get candy and sweets from locals and enjoy music and activities.

Details: Friday, Oct. 25 from 5-7 p.m. at the Zebulon Community Center, 301 S. Arendell Ave., Zebulon.

Halloween Treat Trail

The town of Wendell is hosting a free, non-scary event. Kids accompanied by parents can collect candy from local businesses as they walk the trail.

Details: Friday, Oct. 25 from 5-8 p.m. at Wendell Community Center, 601 W. Third St., Wendell.

Trunk or Treat

Wendell Baptist Church will be giving out candy and have a costume contest for all ages starting at 6:10 p.m. There will also be a photo booth, face painting, tattoos, balloon animals, cake walk and pizza.

Details: Saturday, Oct. 26 from 6-8 p.m. at Wendell Baptist Church, 3651 Wendell Boulevard, Wendell.

Halloween Party

School of Rock Wake Forest will have a free party featuring the School of Rock house band, a costume contest, giveaways, games and candy. Chick-fil-A sandwiches will be available for purchase.

Details: Friday, Oct. 25 from 6-9 p.m. at School of Rock Wake Forest, 3309 Rogers Road, Suite 105, Wake Forest.

101 Halloween Costume Party

Wine & Beer 101 in Wake Forest will host a Halloween costume contest and give away a $50 gift card to the winner.

Details: Saturday, Oct. 26 at 6-10 p.m. (winner announced at 9 p.m.) at Wine & Beer 101, 1228 Heritage Link Drive #104, Wake Forest.

Spook-Tacular Halloween Party

Goldfish Swim School’s annual event includes open swim, good bags, prizes, crafts, cookies and pizza, a costume contest and a backdrop for photos. The costume contest will be held before the pool opens.

Details: Friday, Oct. 25 from 6:30-8 p.m. at Goldfish Swim School, 1440 Falls of Neuse Road, Suite 107, Wake Forest. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12.

Trunk or Treat Family Fun Night

Wake Forest United Methodist Church will host games, a hayride, music and dance floor, dinner, parade, costume contest, trunk decorating and a trunk-or-treat candy giveaway.

Details: Sunday, Oct. 27 from 4-7 p.m. at Wake Forest UMC, 905 South Main St., Wake Forest.

Halloween Party

The Nesting Spot in Wake Forest is hosting a non-scary event with snacks, music, crafts and stories. Costumes are encouraged.

Details: Wednesday, Oct. 30 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at The Nesting Spot, 1241 S. Main St. Suite 7, Wake Forest. Cost is $12 for members and $15 for nonmembers.

Haunted House at Comic World

Zebulon comic book story Comic World will host a haunted house on Halloween night. Its second annual event will include a costume contest, free comics, candy and a scary atmosphere.

Details: Thursday, Oct. 31 from 5-8 p.m. at Comic World, 122 E. Gannon Ave., Zebulon.

Trick or Treat on Main

The town of Louisburg will hand out candy to anyone who stops by. The Louisburg Fire Department, Louisburg Police Department, Historic Downtown District and several businesses will participate. Costumes are welcome.

Details: Thursday, Oct. 31 from 6-8 p.m. at the Downtown Louisburg Amphitheater, 116 N. Main St., Louisburg.

Fall Festival and Trunk or Treat

Friendship Chapel Baptist Church in Wake Forest will hold a fall festival and trunk or treat event on Halloween.

Details: Thursday, Oct. 31 from 6:30-8 p.m. at Friendship Chapel Baptist Church, 237 Friendship Chapel Road, Wake Forest.

Halloween Party

The band Relix will perform at Main Street Tavern in Rolesville. The event will include a costume contest and prizes and dancing.

Details: Friday, Nov. 1 at 9 p.m. at Main Street Tavern, 411D South Main St., Rolesville.
