YOUNGSVILLE — The Youngsville Police Department has announced its inaugural “Shop with a Cop” program.

Designed to foster positive relationships between youth and the community’s police officers, the program is a public-private partnership between the town of Youngsville the Wake Forest Sam’s Club.

Officer Parrish of the Youngsville Police Department is managing the program.

“This is a great opportunity to build healthy relationships between children and law enforcement officers while supporting families in our community who are in need during a season when all should experience joy,” Parrish said.

The Youngsville Police Department Shop with a Cop event will take place Dec. 17 and begin at the Youngsville Community House where participating officers and families will share a holiday meal catered by local businesses. Afterward, officers will transport children to the Wake Forest Walmart and help them shop for clothes and toys with grant funds provided by the Wake Forest Sam’s Club.

“It brings me joy to see the Youngsville Police Department step up in such a meaningful way,” Youngsville Mayor Fonzie Flowers said. “I am also grateful to Sam’s Club for their generous support of this program.”

Applications will be accepted until Nov. 29 and interested families should contact the Youngsville Police Department at 919-925-0500 for more information.
